We finally had the opportunity to pop into The Refillery Shop at Cedar Square in Fourways, and we were in our element. It felt so good to do some guilt free shopping, plastic free and planet friendly! And it was hard to restrain ourselves from buying everything!

Armed with our empty jars and containers, the friendly shop assistant welcomed us into the shop. After seeing that we had brought our own containers he explained the simple weigh and pay process, where they weigh your empty containers and record the weight on the underside of the container, you then do your shopping and fill up your containers. At the till the containers are reweighed (less the weight of the empty container) and you then pay for your goods. If you forget your own jars, they do sell a variety of glass bottles and containers or you can have your goods placed into paper bags – which are great for things like seeds.
Each product has an information card clearly displaying the product type, price per kg, expiry date etc. Their product range is very impressive, from kitchen and personal cleaning products and accessories to all your pantry staples, including baking good, grains, pasta’s and even olive oil and honey

They also have a range of supplies for people who would like to make their own soaps and household cleaners.

Louise needed some cleaning products and also bought some white vinegar and luxury granola.

Zoe bought some shampoo, dishwasher gel and laundry detergent, as well as brown sugar, brown rice, polenta, cous cous, mustard seeds, tea, dried peaches (yum!), seeds of all sorts and Himalayan salt.
So, let’s talk about the prices. The Refillery charges per kilogram and as can be seen in the example table below, when compared to other competitors, their prices are very similar (if not cheaper). This is great news for our pockets and makes shopping here even more appealing.

They have done a fantastic job in terms of the style and feel of the shop. The natural wood and white creates a really relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere. And we love that they support South African businesses, such as So Pure and MyOwn menstrual cups!

Well done to The Refillery team! Shopping with you was such a pleasure and we look forward to doing lots more shopping with you in the future. Joburg greenies, if you haven’t already why not give the Refillery a visit and support our local and environmentally friendly businesses. They also have a website and offer free delivery for all orders over R500.
